10×13” and 18×20” Fine Art Print of original charcoal work “MVNK” - an original 18×20” handmade charcoal drawing on paper.
About: When I made The MUNK, I had just entered the world of body piercing (hooks, needles) as a cathartic practice, instead of merely decorative. The MVNK came through to me as some manifestation of a hierophant archetype. He lives in solitude, for millennia, attending to secret, sacred duties and keeping sacred laws recorded. His hood is attached to his head with long piercing spears, so that he is in constant prayer through the offering of his body. The markings on his face are inspired by music scenes I frequent and face painting traditions among some first nations. Corpse paint from the black metal scene was the primary mark making force though, but I wanted the lines and dark areas to feel like they were apart of the natural geography of the face, not paint. The light egg he carries carefully down an empty stone hall remains empty, for the viewer, as he (The MUNK) instructed during the making of the work.
Price includes taxes and shipping costs.
