"Wyld" PRINT

from $45.00

10×13” and 18×20” fine art prints of my original charcoal drawing “Wyld” (18×20”) 2024.

About: I often feature the blending of nature and the human body in my work, not in an anthropomorphic way — where the human identity is still centered. The Western perspective this word comes from assumes seeing other beings as intelligent, feeling, and thinking, is merely a result of projecting our own sentience onto them. We view those things as “human” characteristics. I like to create these chimera or shapeshifter beings to remind us of our similarity to other creatures; that we are also animals, also strange. This was also the first time I started using this visual motif of horned or spiked chests. A combination of my desire to avert sexual objectification of nude feminine bodies, and a love for horned beetles. I had just been to the bug exhibit at the botanical gardens, and the glossy thorns of the beetles seemed a perfect addition.
